Clingy, worried, jealous, nervous - not the words most women would use to describe their ideal partner. But insecure men tend to do better on a first date. Researchers asked 156 students to complete a questionnaire that assessed how anxious and evasive they were in relationships. The participants then spent one-on-one time with an attractive person they were told was a potential date.
Insecure people came off as more interesting, they talked more, made more eye contact, they seemed nicer, they were funnier, and they said they use physical touch to convey romantic interest. Secure people, on the other hand, read as more distant and boring.
